Please make a reference to the recent study commissioned by EU, phase I, on the economics of ecosystems and biodiversity which has shown considerable natural resources (e.g. corals) are to be lost over the next few years. Policies guidance is provided in this study.

Response: Not accommodated - either a comprehensive list or none at all; reference is made to draw on existing initiatives which will include TEEB.

Please make a reference to the high level segment of COP9 for Biodiversity at Bonn, May 2008. The German Minister for Environment has prepared a well-defined agenda and is going to use different tools such as local authorities, MGOs, youth, economics of biodiversity, and science-based policies.

Response: Not accommodated - either a comprehensive list or none at all.

On recommendations, bullet (e) on capacity building should not be restricted at regular monitoring and assessment of changes in biodiversity and ecosystem services, but be extended on actions and resources required to maintain ecosystem services.

Response: Study by the EU has already been initiated. IPBES will build on that study for its policy support and outreach component.
